First you must RESEARCH!

My husband and I love going to Estate Sales, thrift stores, and flea markets. Anywhere we can hunt through piles of 'stuff' to find vintage treasures. It's exciting and fun. We even get our daughter in on the action and she loves it!

While we love the hunt, one of the most important things is the research you must put into almost every item you uncover. One thing we have learned is that you can NEVER know too much about what you are buying and selling.

Our most frequented source has definitely been the internet. It's really all out there! You can compare prices on sites like Etsy and Ebay. Scour tons of blogs and help forums. Even Wikipedia is a great tool for researching vintage and antique items. We also like to browse antique malls and consignment stores to get a feel for what a certain item will bring in a certain area.

However, more important than even the value of an item is its HISTORY. That is what we love the most. One of my favorite things to find is an old book with a handwritten note from the giver to the receiver. With something like "To a true friend. I will cherish you always." inscribed on the inside cover. It seems silly, but connecting with our items and finding out the history and reason behind them is what makes our job so great!

For the next few posts I want to take a few items that have interesting stories and share them with you! We look forward to any feedback and will gladly answer any questions!
